Once the team had the installation complete and the all the wiring was secured to prevent buzzes and rattles, we used our Bushnell radar detector and Laser Jammer Tester to confirm the system was configured and functioning properly. The team added an LED to the blank panel on the left side of the dash to indicate at a glance which mode the system is in. This location puts the panel at the driver’s fingertips to cancel lidar signal transmission when the vehicle is at a safe speed. We mounted the system’s compact control panel on the center console, just ahead of the storage compartment. With the sensors wired and the cables run along the factory wire channels, our installation team turned to the interior of the vehicle to complete the upgrade. The LED status light lets the client know the status of the system. Once again, we adjusted the sensors so that they are perfectly level with the ground. The work on the outside of the vehicle wrapped up with the installation of two more laser sensors just above the license plate on the rear of the vehicle. The TX sensor increases the signal strength of the laser defuser for added protection. We used a level to make sure that the sensors were parallel to the ground regarding roll and pitch axes for maximum sensitivity and long-range defense performance.Ī third sensor in the form of the AL Priority TX was mounted closer to the center of the grille near the lane departure warning camera. We flushed a pair of sensors into the lower grille of the BMW by removing some of the plastic in the hexagonal mesh. The team then moved on to the laser sensor installation. This location provides the most sensitivity and range possible in terms of speed radar gun alerts. We mounted the Net Radar DSP antenna in the driver’s side grille area, just to the left of the M5 badge. The project began with the installation of the laser sensors and the radar receiver on the front of the vehicle. Our technicians made sure the front laser defusers were precisely aimed.
